October 7-11
Hi!
We did a great job with our STEM activity last week. We created a path/maze for our game piece to move along to the finish line. The children are working hard to get along in small groups and using the steps to the STEM process. Here is what we are learning in the classroom:
Language Arts- We are discussing wordless stories and using the details in the pictures to retell the stories. Please work on retelling stories at home when reading with your child. We are discussing nonfiction and fiction. We are working on writing narratives about our fall break and weekends too. We are working on using capitalization, spacing, punctuation, transition words and details in our writing.
Math- We are working on addition and subtraction strategies. We are working on addition and subtraction facts. We are working on word problems and looking for key words in the problem to help us solve the problem. We are using pictures to help solve the problem and learning about strategies to help us solve the problems such as a number line, pictures, counting on and friends of 10.
Science/Social Studies- We are visiting the Science Lab this week. We are working on a challenge to make a shelter for the duck to not get wet. The children have made good progress with the language of STEM and working together in small groups. We are discussing needs/wants and scarcity during Social Studies time.
Please note that beginning next quarter your child's report card will no longer be printed. You will view your child's grades through Synergy. You will be receiving a paper in your child's folder if you haven't signed up.

Tuesday, October 8th: Papa John's Night
Thursday, October 10th: Early Release Day
Friday, October 11th: Foundation Catalog Sales Ends
